Equine Performance Medicine
Supporting soundness and performance requires a thorough, methodical approach. Our clinic offers a range of diagnostic and treatment services designed to identify issues accurately and manage them effectively.
Comprehensive Lameness Examinations & Diagnostics
We provide detailed lameness evaluations to identify the source of discomfort or reduced performance. This includes gait analysis, flexion tests, and, when indicated, diagnostic nerve and joint blocks. Our goal is to reach a clear diagnosis so that treatment decisions are precise and appropriate.
Advanced Imaging
Our clinic is equipped with state of the art modern digital radiography and ultrasonography systems. These tools allow us to assess bone and soft tissue structures efficiently and with high image quality, aiding in accurate diagnosis and ongoing case management.
Joint Injections
Joint injections can play an important role in maintaining comfort and mobility. We offer evidence-based intra-articular treatments tailored to the individual horse, with careful consideration of performance demands and long-term joint health.
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy
PRP therapy uses the horse’s own blood components to support healing in soft tissue injuries. It is commonly used in the management of tendon and ligament conditions, helping to promote tissue repair. It also has a role in joint therapy and is an excellent option for horses with increased risk of laminitis (those with metabolic conditions likes EMS or Cushing’s).
Podiatry Support
Hoof balance and foot health are critical to overall soundness. We work collaboratively with farriers to address conformational and hoof-related issues, providing guidance and radiographic support where needed to optimize outcomes.
Pre-Purchase Examinations
We offer thorough pre-purchase evaluations to help buyers make informed decisions. Examinations can be tailored to the intended use of the horse and may include clinical assessment, imaging, and performance considerations.
Whole Horse Approach
Performance and soundness are influenced by more than just a single injury or condition. Our approach considers the horse as a whole, including nutrition, conditioning, and overall management. We provide guidance on diet and the use of joint supplements and supportive therapies where appropriate, with recommendations based on current evidence and individual needs.
Our veterinarians have experience across a range of disciplines and bring practical insight from their own time working with horses. This allows us to better understand the demands of training and competition, and to develop realistic, effective plans that support both performance goals and long-term health.
